Stainless turned parts in small batches
Economical small batches in stainless steel, with an optimised unit price from 10 pieces. V2A, V4A and free cutting grades with a 3.1 material certificate.
Best price from 10 pieces
In a small batch the setup cost is spread across more parts and the unit price drops noticeably. From 10 to 20 pieces a stainless small batch becomes genuinely economical.
The sweet spot sits at 20 to 50 pieces, where the ratio of unit price to total spend is best. We program once and then produce efficiently in series.
Stainless grades compared
Not every stainless is the same. 1.4301 (V2A) is enough for many applications, but chloride exposure or medical use calls for 1.4404 (V4A/316L). For the best machinability we recommend free cutting 1.4305.
We advise on the material choice: where V2A is enough and where V4A is needed. The right grade saves money without compromising function.
Why small batches at Strobel?
Economical from 10 pieces
No volume tiers as at large contract manufacturers. We price every batch size individually and fairly.
Call-off orders possible
We program once and you call off as needed. NC programs stay saved, so repeat orders come without setup costs again.
3.1 certificate as standard
Every stainless small batch is delivered with a 3.1 material certificate, batch traceable and documented.
Complete machining
Turning, drilling, threading and milling in one setup. No re-clamping, no subcontracting.

Frequently asked questions
From around 10 pieces the unit price drops noticeably, because programming and setup costs are spread out. The sweet spot for stainless turned parts is 20 to 50 pieces.
1.4301 (V2A): standard corrosion protection. 1.4404 (V4A/316L): chloride exposure, food, medical. 1.4571 (316Ti): welded structures. 1.4305: free cutting grade for the best machinability.
Yes. On the first order we write the NC program and set up the machine. On repeat orders those costs fall away. We keep every program permanently.
Individually in protective film so the surfaces are not damaged. We always pack stainless parts separately from steel parts to avoid contamination rust.
CNC turned: Ra 1.6. Fine turned: Ra 0.8. Polished: Ra 0.4. Electropolished: Ra 0.2. Brushed or blasted on request.
The unit price depends on geometry, tolerances and quantity. Stainless costs more than structural steel both in material and in machining time.
