Precision turned parts

When every micrometre counts: CNC turned parts with tolerances down to ±0.005 mm, H7/g6 fits and surface finishes to Ra 0.4, produced on the DMG MORI NLX 2000.

Precision turned parts with tolerances to IT6 and a Ra 0.4 surface finish: shafts, bushings, bolts and pins in every machinable metal. 100% inspection for safety critical components.

Tolerances

IT6 precision as standard

Our CNC lathes reach positioning accuracies of ±0.003 mm. For fit tolerances (H7, g6, f7) we measure every part individually, with calibrated instruments and documented inspection.

The key to precision: rigid machines, sharp tools, a temperature controlled working area and an experienced operator who keeps the offsets under control.

How your precision turned parts come about

1

Drawing review

We check your drawing for manufacturability, critical tolerances and the best machining strategy, and give feedback before the machine starts.

2

Material & tooling

Material is verified (3.1 certificate), tooling is selected and the machining plan is set. For fits we use dedicated finishing inserts.

3

CNC programming

TopSolid CAD/CAM generates the optimised NC program, with particular attention to finishing passes and surface quality.

4

Precision machining

Production on the DMG MORI NLX 2000 with driven tools. For series work: unattended 24/7 production with bar feeder.

5

Quality control

100% dimensional check of every toleranced feature. Inspection report on request. Parts cleaning and careful packaging.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

As standard we work to ±0.02 mm. For fits (H7, g6, f7) we achieve ±0.005 mm with 100% measurement of every part afterwards. Tighter tolerances (IT5) are possible after discussion.

Standard: Ra 3.2 µm (finish turned). Fine turned: Ra 1.6 µm. Polished: Ra 0.4 µm. For anything smoother we recommend grinding or polishing as a secondary operation.

Every precision turned part is measured 100%, with calibrated instruments (calipers, micrometers, gap gauges). On request we produce a full inspection report.

All machinable metals: free cutting steel, stainless (1.4301, 1.4571), aluminium (6082, 7075), brass, titanium. The material affects the achievable tolerance and surface finish.

From 50 pieces to 10,000 and more (high volume). From around 20 pieces the bar feeder comes into play and we run unattended around the clock.

Standard: 3 to 5 weeks. A shorter lead time for urgent orders is possible on request, depending on current capacity and material availability.
