Series Production

Turning Series

CNC turned parts in series — automated production with bar feeder, from small series to 50,000+ pieces. Consistent quality, short lead times, competitive unit prices.

Automation

Automated Series Production

Our lathes operate with automatic bar feeding — unmanned production around the clock for maximum cost-effectiveness.

01
Bar Feeder Loading
Automatic material feed from 3m bars. No manual loading, uninterrupted production.
02
CNC Machining
Turning, drilling, threading, milling — all operations in one clamping on DMG MORI NLX 2000.
03
Automatic Parting Off
Finished parts are automatically parted off and guided into the collection tray.
04
Quality Inspection
SPC monitoring, sample inspection and ongoing dimensional control ensure consistent series quality.
Advantages

Why Turning Series at Strobel?

Maximum efficiency through automated processes and state-of-the-art CNC technology.

01

Unmanned Production

Bar feeder operation enables 24/7 production without operator intervention — maximum machine utilisation.

02

Declining Unit Costs

The higher the quantity, the lower the unit price. Setup costs are optimally distributed across the series.

03

Consistent Quality

Automated processes guarantee consistent dimensions and surface finishes throughout the entire series.

04

Short Lead Times

High machine capacity and optimised workflows enable short throughput times even for large series.

05

Complete Machining

Turning, drilling, threading and milling in one clamping — no re-clamping, no positioning errors.

06

Flexible Materials

Steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass, plastic — series production in all common materials.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Turning Series

Q1From what quantity does a turning series make sense?

From approx. 100 pieces, series production can be worthwhile as setup costs are distributed across more parts. From 500 pieces, unit costs drop significantly through use of the automatic bar feeder.

Q2How does automated series production work?

Raw material (3m bars) is loaded into the bar feeder. The CNC machine automatically draws in the bar, machines the part and parts it off. The process repeats automatically — 24/7, without operator intervention.

Q3What tolerances can be maintained in series?

As standard IT7 (±0.015 mm). Tighter tolerances such as IT6 or h6 are possible and are continuously monitored through SPC monitoring and regular sample inspection.

Q4Which materials are suitable for turning series?

All machinable metals: free-cutting steel, tempered steel, stainless steel (1.4301/1.4404), aluminium (6082/7075), brass, bronze and engineering plastics (POM, PA6, PEEK).

Q5How quickly are turning series delivered?

Small series (100–500 pcs): 1–2 weeks. Medium series (500–5,000 pcs): 2–4 weeks. Large series: by individual agreement. Express production on request.

Q6Can I receive samples before series production?

Yes, we produce first article samples (1–5 pieces) with a complete first article inspection report (FAIR). Series production starts after approval.

Q7Do you offer framework agreements for recurring series?

Yes, for regular call-offs we offer framework agreements with fixed unit prices and guaranteed delivery times. Tools and programs remain stored.

Q8What complete machining operations are possible in series?

Turning, drilling, thread cutting, milling (with driven tools), grooving and parting off — all in one clamping, without re-clamping.
